Reflections from
Mary Stepien, President

Lunch & Learn

Over the past months, we’ve had a variety of guest speakers including retired councillor Pat Saito who we thanked for many years of service to Mississauga seniors. Leanne Harris, a historical storyteller, entertained with interesting stories from Medieval times. We had tempting presentations from Celebrity and Expedia Cruises, and Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services discussed critical fire safety with a focus on seniors.

A big thank you to all guests and presenters who have given their time to our group, and long-time Lunch & Learn convenor Joan Duke.

Keep checking the calendar and bulletin board notices for future presentations.

Mystery Fridays

This event came about through talks with our members. It’s a day for fun, song, dance, and delicious treats. What a lovely start to the Christmas season to have had Cinderella Choir from the Meadowvale Theatre sing Christmas carols with us, and Santa surprise us with a visit. We’ve hosted singer, raconteur Gerry Larkin who entertained us with music and song so that we could sing and dance to his tunes. Recently Hugo Stranney aka ‘Elvis’ brought us to new height and frenzy. ‘Elvis’ brought back memories of our youth. We shimmied and shook to every syllable.

Merci Cinderella Choir, Gerry Larkin, Ronan Hughes (Santa), and Hugo Stranney (Elvis) for your talents and time. You have given many seniors great memories to reflect on.

Members, keep checking the bulletin board for clues on the next Mystery Friday guest.
